Aggressive Mini Clips and Flips

In this dash cam footage, we see a Mini Cooper trying to make a sudden lane change which caused a major crash. At around 0:41, we can see the Mini forcing their way into the right lane and clipping the dash cam equipped car before losing control. The Mini then harshly swerves into the left lane to try to regain control, and then jerks right to correct. After a failed attempt at correcting the steering, the Mini driver ends up hitting the shoulder. Dash Cam Video After it tumbles and flips several times, it lands upright on the road. BlackSys CH-100B and CH-200 Driving Mode G-Sensor Impact Sensitivity

A few users with sports cars have complained that the driving mode impact sensitivity is too high, even in the lowest setting. In the #1 Setting (insensitive) the G-sensor is set to 0.70/0.65/0.65G for the X/Y/Z axes. This indicates the threshold that an impact needs to surpass to trigger event recording. On certain vehicles, minor bumps like potholes or harder braking and turning might trigger the G-sensor.  What's the Solution? Here at BlackSys, we try to offer the most customizable parking mode dash cams on the market. Unlike other manufacturers that restrict you to a limited number of G-sensor settings, we've actually included a "CUSTOMIZE" option which lets you put in your own values up to 1.50G. In our experience,...

Police Dash Cam Footage Used to Charge Deputy with Reckless Driving

Police departments were one of the first groups to employ the use of dash cams in North America. We're familiar with police dash cam footage from TV shows like COPS and various high profile cases of police misconduct that made the news such as the Sandra Bland case. In this particular incident involving the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (PBSO), the dash cam footage actually was used to charge a sheriff's deputy with reckless driving.  In the video, you can see Sheriff's deputy Brandon Hegele speeding excessively and weaving through traffic before hitting a Smart car while travelling at a shocking 104 mph. This impact left the Smart driver with serious injuries like a fractured skull, broken arm, broken ribs, and pelvis. The deputy...

Serious Single Vehicle Crash on Nevada Interstate

This video shared by Thinkware shows a driver in a red Honda Accord losing control of their vehicle causing a rollover on the freeway. From the dash cam video it looks like the Accord driver jerked his wheel to the left to avoid a collision with the red Toyota Matrix. Once he did this, he was not able to stabilize the car and ended up hitting the barrier and flipping their car. Luckily it looks like the car kept the driver relatively safe and the side curtain airbag appeared to deploy correctly.  Even with the dash cam footage, this type of crash will still likely be deemed 100% the Accord driver's fault. Ultimately it could've been avoided had they handled the...

Dash Cams in the News! "Should drivers with dashcams receive an insurance discount?"

Recently, our friends at BlackboxMyCar were featured on the local news (Global BC) where the topic of dash cams and insurance discounts came up. In the video you can see clips from our CH-100B and CH-200 dash cams! The case for insurance companies is that dash cams make settling claims much easier and there's less of a need for drivers to dispute which party is at fault. This saves a significant amount of time, and ultimately money, for insurance companies since adjusters will not waste as much time going back and forth with the drivers, police, and other witnesses. With dash cam footage, the lane positioning and traffic lights are all clearly visible and recorded so there is no room for...
